APPLE GALETTE

ASSALAMUALAIKUM......

serius wani cakap pada sesiapa selera tekak dia yang suka pastry ... ini pun salah satu jugak ya  APPLE GALETTE .. a free form pastry that originally comes from French .... let's we see what' the meaning of "galette" .wani rujuk SINI .ataupun SINI. wani biasanya,,, sesuatu bahan atau apa -apa jenis makanan yang wani tak pernah dengar ,, wani pun nak tahu dari mana asal .. makanan tersebut ,,,, barulah kita bukan tahu makan je .. malah kita tahu juga asal-usul makanan tersebut kan ...

"A galette is a type of French pastry that is made with a rich, flaky crust, and traditionally served at Epiphany, on 6 January each year. Many bakeries also offer galettes year round, in both savory and sweet incarnations. In general, galettes are rounded and flat, and they tend to be very crusty because of the type of pastry used to make them. They can be made at home with minimal effort.
The term "galette" is used in some parts of France to refer specifically to crêpes made with buckwheat. In other countries, pastries that are made with more dense doughs are sometimes found labeled as galettes. Technically this designation is incorrect, especially if the pastry is left open on top, as is common, but the resemblance to the original galette can be seen. In most cases, a galette is too large for a single person to eat and is designed to be sliced before being served to individual guests."

galettes ni can be sweet or savory ... terpulang apa-apa filling kita buat yang penting letak kat tengah-tengah filling tu and then lipat ke atas lebihan kat tepi tu ... macam tu lahh.. wani sebenarnya ternampak apple galette ni dekat dapur kak paty ... .kebetulan jugak wani ada lebihan buah epal banyak betul dalam peti .. entah lah dah tak ada selera nak makan saja buah apple  tu ... wani pun cubalah nak buat apple galette ni ... so easy coz no need mould kan.. roll je .. tapi yang penting letak atas baking sheet masa nak bakar nanti senang nak angkat bila nak pindah kat pinggan nanti ... ibu wani cakap kalau nak ganti dengan buah pisang boleh .. oooo idea yang bagus jugak tu .. boleh la cuba nanti kita ikut cara tekak asia pulak :D.. ni ikut selera barat .. asyik buah epal je kan .. apple galette ni bagi wani sedap dimakan ketika lepas keluar oven .. masih hotttt!! apple tu masih hangat lagi .:D. thanks kak paty for sharing ... this recipe :))... next time . can use another fruit filling  ...

APPLE GALETTE
SOURCE: PATY'S KITCHEN

Pastry
150 g Flour
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Sugar
110 g Butter cut into pieces
½ teaspoon Vanilla
40 ml ice-cold Water

Method
1. Put the flour, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.

2. Add the butter pieces and pinch with the fingers to create a crumb texture.

3. Make a well in the middle, and pour in the vanilla and water.

4. Quickly work in the flour to create dough.

5. Do not over-mix.

6. Pat into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate 15 minutes.

Filling
4 tablespoons brown sugar more to taste
1 tablespoon Flour
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
6 Apples peeled, cored, and sliced
1 tablespoon Butter optional

1. Heat the oven to 450°F/230°C.

2. Roll the pastry into a round and lay on a baking sheet.

3. Stir together the sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl.

4. Toss in the apples to coat, and dump onto the pastry.

5. Dot with the butter.

6. Bring the edges of the pastry up over so they lay in, rough-edged, on the apples.

7. They won’t cover the apples completely.

8. Bake until the crust is crisp and golden and the apples soft to a fork and caramelized, 40 to 45 minutes.

NOTA:

1. Untuk doh yang wani buat ni agak terlembik, entahlah samada terkurang tepung atau terlebih marjerin, tapi tak apa kalau doh terlembik sila tambah tepung ya sehingga boleh dibentuk jadi doh.

2. bila nak pindahkan apple galette ke pinggan hidangan .. hati -hati masa nak angkat, takut dia crack sebab apple galette yang wani buat ni agak besar ,so wani guna sudip letak bawah baking sheet dan angkat bersama baking paper tu dengan perlahan -lahan..

bila letak atas pinggan tarik keluar perlahan-lahan baking paper tu ... baking paper tu memainkan peranan penting ya ....
- bilangan apple tu agak banyak bagi wani .. so kalau sesiapa nak kurangkan boleh kurang dalam 4 biji epal ok .... tapi terpulang samada epal tu besar atau kecil..
